Wrinkle treatments may involve the use of a prescription‑only neuromodulator. 

This purified protein temporarily reduces targeted muscle activity by blocking nerve signals to the treated area.  Decreased muscle movement can help minimise the appearance of dynamic lines that occur with facial expression.

Neuromodulator treatments are also used in clinical practice for therapeutic and aesthetic purposes, such as managing jaw muscle tension (bruxism/TMJ), facial slimming, brow positioning, reducing a “gummy smile” appearance, treating “bunny lines,” chin dimpling, and lines around the eyes.

Before your appointment

After your appointment

• A follow‑up review is recommended approximately two weeks after treatment to assess your individual response and discuss any further clinical considerations.
• It is advisable to avoid international air travel for about two weeks after treatment, as changes in cabin pressure and dry air may contribute to swelling or bruising in some individuals.

Other options to support comfort during treatment, such as cooling with ice, vibration devices, or calming background music, can also be discussed at the time of consultation.
A dental block may be considered for specific procedures if appropriate.

 Risks and Possible Side Effects

Potential side effects may include swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. Less common effects can include uneven texture, product movement, formation of small lumps, or, rarely, vascular occlusion.

A thorough discussion of all potential risks and after‑care requirements will be provided during your consultation with the registered nurse before any treatment is undertaken.

If necessary, the product can usually be dissolved using an appropriate medical protocol. Mild discomfort may occur after treatment and can be managed with simple measures such as a cool pack or paracetamol, if suitable.

PDO Mono Threads are a minimally invasive procedure involving the insertion of fine, absorbable threads made of polydioxanone (PDO) beneath the skin.
This process can stimulate the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production, helping to support skin structure and texture over time.
The threads gradually dissolve, typically within several months, while collagen production may continue as part of the body’s natural healing response.

Potential Treatment Goals

• Stimulate collagen and elastin production

The threads dissolve over time (approximately 3 months) stimulating & boosting collagen and elastin production, providing you with long-lasting effects of tighter, firmer, more youthful skin. 

 To ensure optimum results, we recommend a maintenance treatment at 12 months after your initial treatment.  PDO Threads can be performed in conjunction with our other Skin or Cosmetic  treatments. 

The downtime following  PDO Mono Threads is minimal, and you should be able to return to normal ‘light’ daily activities immediately after your procedure.  The area will feel tender to touch and it’s best to avoid touching the area for at least 2 hours post-treatment for the injection sites to heal.  We recommend that you avoid physically strenuous activities for 24-48hrs. 

Treatment time takes between 30-60 minutes, depending on the area & number of threads you choose. 

Although it might look daunting and uncomfortable, PDO Mono Threads cause minimum discomfort, due to the superficial level the threads are placed.  We offer application of an extra strength topical numbing cream  for 15 minutes prior to treatment, to ensure your experience is more enjoyable.   Other analgesic methods to assist with injection site discomfort including, music-therapy, ice, and the Beauty Bar (vibration anethesia device).

Treatment is not available for you if:

• You are taking Anticoagulants (blood thinning medication)
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• You have multiple and severe allergic reactions 

•  Avoid dental treatments for the first two weeks after your PDO Thread treatment
• Keep the skin clear and avoid makeup for 24 hours post-treatment
• Mild bruising and redness may occur after treatment, this varies on an individual basis 
• Reduce the risk of bruising by avoiding large intakes of alcohol for 24 hours prior & post
• Aspirin and Vitamin E should not be taken one week before the treatment - Always  consult with your medical provider before stopping any medications.

SkinPen Precision is a medical microneedling device used to perform collagen induction therapy (CIT). The device employs a single‑use, sterile cartridge containing fine needles that create controlled micro‑channels in the skin.

This process triggers the skin’s natural wound‑healing response, which may support new collagen and elastin formation and assist in improving overall skin texture and quality. Treatment parameters are adjusted according to individual assessment and clinical need.

Microneedling procedures can be used to address various skin concerns such as uneven tone, texture irregularities, and the appearance of superficial scarring, as determined by your practitioner during consultation.

 Exosome Add‑On Treatment
Exosomes are microscopic, cell‑derived particles that contain growth factors and signalling molecules. When applied after microneedling, they may support the skin’s natural repair response by assisting with hydration and recovery. Exosome use is determined during consultation, based on individual skin condition and treatment goals.  

Suitability and Precautions
Microneedling treatments may not be suitable for individuals with active skin infections, irritated or injured skin, certain bleeding disorders, or allergies to device materials (such as stainless steel). Treatment is also not advised for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or currently using medications containing isotretinoin.

 What to Expect Following a SkinPen® Procedure:

 This is dependent on the patient – the recovery process is slightly different for everyone directly after a SkinPen procedure. Most patients are able to resume their usual activities the next day. However, this excludes any activities that would produce excess sweat and irritate the skin following your SkinPen session. 

Expect:

• Day 0 (day of procedure): Moderate redness, tight, sunburned sensation. Nothing on face except Hydrogel (Lift), apply as frequently as needed.
• Day 1 – Mild to moderate redness and swelling, similar to a sunburn. No sunscreen or makeup.
• Day 2 – Some persistent redness and swelling may be present. May apply sunscreen and makeup.
• Day 3 – Most redness, bruising, and swelling almost gone.
• Day 4 – Return to normal appearance without makeup.

 Pre-Procedure Instructions & Precautions

• Avoid sun exposure/burns twenty-four (24) hours prior to treatment.
• Discontinue use of retinoids twelve (12) hours prior to treatment.
• You should not have an active breakout, active cold sores, or open lesions. If this occurs, your medical microneedling treatment should be rescheduled.
• Allow at least (twelve) 12 hours after autoimmune therapies before having a medical microneedling treatment.
• Wait six (6) months following isotretinoin (Accutane) use.
• Skin types Fitzpatrick IV-VI, pigment may darken prior to lightening.
• Wait at least forty-eight (48) hours before or after Botox treatment to have medical microneedling treatment.
• Wait at least one (1) week before or after any fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, etc.
• Wait at least one (1) month before or after laser treatments such as IPL, VBeam, etc. or chemical peels such as Vitalize, Rejuvenate, etc. or Microdermabrasion treatments.

Post-Procedure Instructions & Precautions for first 24 Hours

• Only use the Rescue Calming Complex and the Lift HA Serum for the next twenty-four(24) hours. Do not use any other skincare products or makeup (cleansers, moisturizers, or sunblocks).
• After 24 hours from procedure you can also use a gentle cleanser and a zinc oxide sunblock as well as continue using the Rescue Calming Complex and the Lift HA Serum.
• Avoid exercise for three (3) days following the procedure (including procedure day). Bruising is rare however, do not plan an important event within 2 weeks of treatment.
• Avoid unprotected sun exposure for 2 weeks after treatment. Use zinc oxide and hat/shade to protect treated areas.

It’s best if you use skincare products recommended by your therapist following SkinPen sessions. After each treatment, your skin has microchannels that absorb nutrients and moisture more effectively, which is why the products you use matter.   Certain products end up causing an allergic reaction when the skin has never absorbed them that deeply.
