As part of the natural ageing process, skin can gradually become thinner, drier, and less elastic. Repeated facial movements may contribute to the development of visible lines and wrinkles over time.
We offer professional consultations to assess individual concerns and discuss clinically appropriate, evidence‑based treatment options for managing fine lines and wrinkles.
Wrinkle treatments may involve the use of a prescription‑only neuromodulator.
This purified protein temporarily reduces targeted muscle activity by blocking nerve signals to the treated area. Decreased muscle movement can help minimise the appearance of dynamic lines that occur with facial expression.
Neuromodulator treatments are also used in clinical practice for therapeutic and aesthetic purposes, such as managing jaw muscle tension (bruxism/TMJ), facial slimming, brow positioning, reducing a “gummy smile” appearance, treating “bunny lines,” chin dimpling, and lines around the eyes.
A consultation with a qualified health practitioner is required to determine suitability before any treatment.
The effects of neuromodulator treatment typically become noticeable within 2–7 days, with the maximum effect generally visible at around two weeks.
The duration of effect varies between individuals but usually lasts about 3–4 months. This can differ depending on factors such as treatment area, dose administered, and individual characteristics including metabolism and lifestyle.
Individual responses vary, and the practitioner will discuss expected outcomes and timing during your consultation.
This treatment is performed using small, superficial injections. Most clients experience only mild and temporary discomfort.
To support comfort during treatment, a range of options can be used, including topical anaesthetic, vibration devices, or calming background music.
Most clients can resume normal daily activities soon after treatment.
Minor redness or swelling can occasionally occur at the injection site and typically resolves within a short period.
Mild bruising can occasionally occur following treatment, although this is not common. Some clients may notice temporary redness or small bumps at the injection site, which generally resolve shortly after the procedure.
To support healing and reduce the risk of irritation, avoid touching or rubbing the treated area, applying creams or makeup, or lying flat for several hours after treatment.
If you plan additional skin procedures such as peels, dermabrasion, facials, or microneedling, these should generally be scheduled at least two weeks after anti‑wrinkle treatment to allow adequate recovery time.
In accordance with current regulatory requirements, pricing for prescription-only cosmetic treatments cannot be publicly advertised.
For information about available treatment options and associated fees, please contact the clinic directly or schedule a consultation to discuss your individual needs.

As part of the natural ageing process, the skin and underlying structures gradually lose collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. This may contribute to changes in facial volume, definition, and overall skin texture. Contributing factors include bone resorption, reduced collagen production, and decreased moisture retention within the soft tissues.
Volume‑replacement treatments use injectable products to address areas of volume depletion and support facial structure. These treatments differ from those designed to relax facial muscles.
At Second Skin Aesthetics, treatment planning focuses on achieving balanced and natural‑looking results. In each case, product placement and technique are guided by individual anatomy, clinical assessment, and safety considerations.
Common treatment areas include:
Volume‑replacement treatment can produce visible changes soon after the procedure by addressing areas of volume loss and supporting facial contours. Outcomes vary between individuals and depend on factors such as treatment area, product used, and individual response.
This treatment involves a series of small injections placed superficially. The product used contains a local anaesthetic, which helps reduce treatment‑related discomfort.
Additional measures may be used to support comfort during the procedure, such as topical anaesthetic, vibration devices, or calming background music.
Mild swelling or bruising can occasionally occur after treatment. These effects are generally temporary and tend to resolve within a few days.
The most common side effects may occur immediately after treatment or within the first 24 hours.
These can include mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site.
These effects are usually temporary and resolve without intervention.

Risks and Possible Side Effects
All medical procedures carry some level of risk, and these cannot be completely eliminated.
Potential side effects may include swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. Less common effects can include uneven texture, product movement, formation of small lumps, or, rarely, vascular occlusion.
A thorough discussion of all potential risks and after‑care requirements will be provided during your consultation with the registered nurse before any treatment is undertaken.
If necessary, the product can usually be dissolved using an appropriate medical protocol. Mild discomfort may occur after treatment and can be managed with simple measures such as a cool pack or paracetamol, if suitable.

PDO Mono Threads are a minimally invasive procedure involving the insertion of fine, absorbable threads made of polydioxanone (PDO) beneath the skin.
This process can stimulate the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production, helping to support skin structure and texture over time.
The threads gradually dissolve, typically within several months, while collagen production may continue as part of the body’s natural healing response.
Potential Treatment Goals
Common Treatment Areas
A consultation with a qualified practitioner is required to determine suitability, discuss expected outcomes, and review potential risks or side effects.
Results are seen in 8-12 weeks last approximately 6-12 months.
The threads dissolve over time (approximately 3 months) stimulating & boosting collagen and elastin production, providing you with long-lasting effects of tighter, firmer, more youthful skin.
To ensure optimum results, we recommend a maintenance treatment at 12 months after your initial treatment. PDO Threads can be performed in conjunction with our other Skin or Cosmetic treatments.
The downtime following PDO Mono Threads is minimal, and you should be able to return to normal ‘light’ daily activities immediately after your procedure. The area will feel tender to touch and it’s best to avoid touching the area for at least 2 hours post-treatment for the injection sites to heal. We recommend that you avoid physically strenuous activities for 24-48hrs.
Treatment time takes between 30-60 minutes, depending on the area & number of threads you choose.
Although it might look daunting and uncomfortable, PDO Mono Threads cause minimum discomfort, due to the superficial level the threads are placed. We offer application of an extra strength topical numbing cream for 15 minutes prior to treatment, to ensure your experience is more enjoyable. Other analgesic methods to assist with injection site discomfort including, music-therapy, ice, and the Beauty Bar (vibration anethesia device).

SkinPen Precision is a medical microneedling device used to perform collagen induction therapy (CIT). The device employs a single‑use, sterile cartridge containing fine needles that create controlled micro‑channels in the skin.
This process triggers the skin’s natural wound‑healing response, which may support new collagen and elastin formation and assist in improving overall skin texture and quality. Treatment parameters are adjusted according to individual assessment and clinical need.
Microneedling procedures can be used to address various skin concerns such as uneven tone, texture irregularities, and the appearance of superficial scarring, as determined by your practitioner during consultation.
Exosome Add‑On Treatment
Exosomes are microscopic, cell‑derived particles that contain growth factors and signalling molecules. When applied after microneedling, they may support the skin’s natural repair response by assisting with hydration and recovery. Exosome use is determined during consultation, based on individual skin condition and treatment goals.
Suitability and Precautions
Microneedling treatments may not be suitable for individuals with active skin infections, irritated or injured skin, certain bleeding disorders, or allergies to device materials (such as stainless steel). Treatment is also not advised for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or currently using medications containing isotretinoin.
A thorough consultation with a qualified practitioner is required before any procedure to confirm individual suitability and discuss possible risks and after‑care.
What to Expect Following a SkinPen® Procedure:
This is dependent on the patient – the recovery process is slightly different for everyone directly after a SkinPen procedure. Most patients are able to resume their usual activities the next day. However, this excludes any activities that would produce excess sweat and irritate the skin following your SkinPen session.

Pre-Procedure Instructions & Precautions
Post-Procedure Instructions & Precautions for first 24 Hours
It’s best if you use skincare products recommended by your therapist following SkinPen sessions. After each treatment, your skin has microchannels that absorb nutrients and moisture more effectively, which is why the products you use matter. Certain products end up causing an allergic reaction when the skin has never absorbed them that deeply.
